This illustration was commissioned by a client who customizes Magic: The Gathering cards, seeking a unique medieval-inspired design to use in a series of personalized card alters and collectibles. The request was to create a bold, stylized knight that maintained the essence of fantasy while incorporating a modern, graphic aesthetic.

Drawing inspiration from Dark Fantasy and Medieval Fantasy themes, I developed this piece as an exploration of color theory, texture, and pattern work, using a limited yet striking palette of royal blue, deep magenta, and warm orange. The geometric patterning on the armor and the sharp, angular composition give it a timeless yet contemporary feel, making it a perfect fit for fantasy card designs.

Designed with print versatility in mind, the artwork is available in 8.5” x 11” and 11” x 17” formats, optimized for high-quality inkjet or digital printing. The client sought high-resolution assets for custom prints, card sleeves, and even foil overlays, ensuring the piece could be adapted into various applications. The project was a collaborative effort, allowing me to fine-tune the details based on the client’s vision while maintaining artistic freedom to experiment with light, shadow, and dynamic color contrasts.
